The broom is a small bush with hairy evergreen leaflets.  It gets its name from the fact that its gorse-like branches were once used for making brooms.  The Celtic autumn traditions included the ritual sweeping of a house, to cleanse it of negativity before the winter set in, the broom tree therefore became associated with the start of the winter season. 

Resilient, optimistic and determined, those born in the Broom sign have an inventive and adaptable personality.  They are industrious and highly active, with the ability to find new uses for the most unlikely things.  Technically gifted regarding the crafts, the Broom person has a conscientious attitude to work.  There is a strong tendency to champion the plight of the unfortunate, and an enviable power to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in others.   Unfortunately, however, those born in this sign find it difficult to make up their minds.
