May 26 - June 7

The abundant white blossom that appears on the hawthorn tree in May was used to fashion garlands and wreaths to celebrate the return of summer. The thorns of this gnarled bush provide protection for nesting birds and were consequently considered a talisman of protection from evil or predatory influences. Those born in the Hawthorn sign have a determined spirit with much capacity for creative thinking. They share a sympathetic and hospitable personality and spiritual aspirations are usually well developed. The Hawthorn has a generous nature and an idealistic attitude to life. The common good is usually a high priority for the Hawthorn who is prepared to make many a personal sacrifice to help those around them. Sadly, however, the generosity of those born in this sign can mean that they are often exploited by others. |
