Linden

At midsummer the lush foliage of the linden is populated by tiny aphids that excrete sticky honeydew. The tree was therefore considered especially sacred to this time of the year. As its trunk is tall and straight, and its wood is excellent for carving, religious totems were made form linden to celebrate the summer time. Lindens are often over-cautious and share a stubborn reluctance to take chances. They may be highly competent organizers and administrators, but experimentation and risk taking is best left to others. Sometimes their hesitance can be a handicap: frequently they fail to exploit their capabilities or realize their full potential. For the best results, the Linden should learn to take the occasional risk and realize that failures are often an important part of learning. Although those born in the Linden sign are affectionate and loving, they have a tendency to become clingy or overbearing in relationships. |
