The oak’s size and potential to live to a great age, together with its usefulness as both a building material and as a source of tannic acid, essential for tanning leather, made this tree one of the most important for the ancient Celts.  It was therefore sacred to the sun god and venerated during the midsummer festival of the sun.

Those born in this cycle are strong and resolute, others looking to them for guidance.  The Oak person, however, can often fail to understand those less strong, finding it incomprehensible that the tasks they find easy others may find hard.  They make excellent leaders, so long as they remember not to overtax their followers.  If left without a challenge, the Oak may lapse into a state of lethargy, content to watch the world go by.
