The rowan was one of the most sacred trees to the ancient Celts and its wood was used exclusively for funeral pyres. It was also sacred to the goddess Brigid, the muse of the arts. As rowan berries can appear on the tree as early as May, it was chiefly associated with the festival of Beltane on May 1 – the start of summer.
Having natural charm, those born in the Rowan cycle are both expressive and theatrical. With easily stimulated emotions, they have tremendous enthusiasm for new ideas. They share an originality of thinking with a quick intellect and good memory. The Rowan has the capacity to learn easily. They have a romantic temperament coupled with great love of travel and adventure. Neat and tidy, the Rowan person takes pride in their personal appearance. This is an extremely artistic and creative sign, although those born in it may suffer from an overactive imagination. |
