Sallow

February 23 - March 7

The silky catkins of the sallow, or pussy willow, can appear as early as February.  Because of their shape, these round, silver-grey catkins naturally became associated with the moon and the Celtic Imbolc season in early February was a festival of the moon.  As it grows in river valleys, like the alder, the willow too was also regarded as sacred to the Lady of the Lake.

Those born in the Sallow sign have wonderful humility and are seldom, if ever, arrogant or vain.  Admirable though these qualities are, they may result in too much self-sacrifice and a lack of consideration for their own essential needs.  Those born in this sign should make a determined effort not to let acquaintances walk all over them.  Sallow people are sometimes too kind and generous for their own good.  This is also a sign of considerable creativity and an affinity with nature.  Many people with deep insight are born during this cycle.
